Another project we had the privilege of seeing is the S.P.Y program*. The acronym, in three Khmer words, means "Our Healthy Village." It employs a very strong, grassroots method of distributing important, life-saving health information through a system of volunteers who represent villages, communes (sets of villages) and districts (sets of communes). The photos show a group of volunteers gathered for their monthly training. The leader (blue golf shirt) is "training the trainers" who will go back to their district/commune/village and share with their people.

Congregate
World Relief is hosting a conference in Baltimore, MD called Congregate today. It is thought-provoking look at how the church can be holistic and partnership-oriented in its work with the poor around the world.
One very helpful seminar was on how US churches can make their short-term missions (a.k.a. Vision Trips) more effective and avoid potential harm for hosts NGOs. FMI: Sharla Chinniah, Partnership Officer at World Relief.
