Encouraging New Anti-Trafficking Workers

Tonight for dinner we met one of the ministry leaders of World Relief-Cambodia, Geof Bowman (who College Parkers will recall from his visit one Sunday earlier this year), introduced our Team to Jasmine and Sunnay who you see pictured with us below. These two young ladies are some of the newest staff with WR-C. They will lead the development of the new Anti-Trafficking Program.*

During our dinner we heard, mostly through our translator, Engchy, the story of these two girls and became convinced that they have been gifted and chosen by God for this task.
The shyer of the two young ladies was sold by her parents when she was very young. The man who bought her took her to a neighboring country where she was forced into a life of prostitution. Somehow, in a series of event she is not ready yet to talk to anybody about, she escaped and made it back to Cambodia. But where could she go? Back to her parents? No. She found a sex-trade recovery group called Agape... she believed the Gospel... and now she is helping to begin this program that will educate girls and their families of the risks of sex-trade industry. What evil men for harm, God will redeem and use for His good... Alleluia!

* It bears repeating that College Park Church's combined gift given to WR-C through their Christmas Offering 2006, provided the seed money for this new Anti-Trafficking program. Why do I make note of this gift? Partly because the amount given (over $500,000) is an example of "excelling in the grace of giving" ... but more so to exort: We who helped pray and give toward this new program, and the new staff positions for Jasmine and Sunnay, have the privilege (and the responsibility?) to not just send them to the field and forget them, but rather to continue to support them by praying.

Josh and Becky,
We're enjoying the blog. Glad all is going well so far. We're all fine here -- did lots of shopping today. We're going to stay home and get some things done around the house tomorrow -- maybe walk to the library and playground before the cold weather arrives. We all love you! Hope all goes well.
